[[{“value”:”Cayman Islands Records Strong Growth in 2025 with Record December Visitation

The Cayman Islands reached its highest level of both stayover visitors and cruise passengers for the year 2025, which marked the end of a successful year for the destination. The Cayman Islands experienced its highest visitor count in December 2025, which led to increased visitor numbers from Canada, the United States and Latin American countries. The region experiences strong growth because luxury travellers and eco-tourists, and premium Caribbean vacationers increasingly choose to visit.
Historic December Results for the Cayman Islands
December 2025 marked the highest number of stayover visitors in the island’s history, with 54,830 travellers arriving in the month. This represented a 5.3% increase compared to December 2024, contributing to the record-breaking year. Overall visitation, which includes both stayover guests and cruise passengers, saw a 9% year-over-year increase, reaching a total of 203,319 visitors for the month.
A Lift in Air Capacity Fuels Growth
A significant factor in this surge in visitor numbers was the expansion of airlift to the Cayman Islands. In December 2025, air capacity reached 88,014 inbound seats, an impressive 16% year-over-year increase. Notably, the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism worked strategically with airline partners to introduce new North American routes and expand services from key cities including Miami, Chicago, and Toronto. These expansions allowed for better accessibility, encouraging more U.S. and Canadian tourists to visit the destination during the peak winter season.
Canada’s Resilience and Growth
In 2025, Canada emerged as a standout performer, surpassing 2019 levels of visitation for the first time post-pandemic. The country recorded 7.1% growth in stayover arrivals from Canadian travellers, which can be attributed to an increase in airline seat capacity and the introduction of new flights. New service from Porter Airlines between Toronto and Ottawa in December, along with expanded flights from Air Canada and WestJet, contributed to the rise in Canadian visitors.
This was further supported by monthly visitation records set in March, July, September, November, and December, all indicative of Canada’s resilience and strong travel intent. The continued success of the Canadian market reflects a strategic alignment between tourism marketing efforts and the ongoing recovery of international travel post-pandemic.
Growth from the U.S. Market and Latin America
The United States remained the Cayman Islands’ largest source market in 2025, with a 2.7% increase in stayover arrivals compared to 2024. Florida, Texas, and New York continued to drive strong growth, with more visitors from these regions opting for luxury villa rentals, beachfront resorts, and adventure tourism. This growth was fuelled by the expanded air capacity and increased partnerships with airlines serving the region.
Additionally, Latin America recorded a 3.0% increase in visitors, with South America contributing a 9.5% increase, led by Brazil, Argentina, and Honduras. The expanded flight options from these regions have further enhanced the destination’s appeal for Latin American travellers.
Accommodation and Infrastructure Expansion
Accommodation growth also supported the increase in visitor arrivals, with 119 new rooms added to the islands’ short-term rental market. This increase was driven by the entry of new condominiums and villas into the tourism market, ensuring the Cayman Islands can continue to cater to luxury travellers seeking exclusivity and privacy. Looking ahead, the One|GT Resort and Grand Hyatt Grand Cayman Resort & Spa are set to add 500 more rooms to the inventory in 2026.
Looking to 2026 and Beyond
With strong airlift projections for early 2026, the Cayman Islands is well-positioned to continue its growth trajectory. The islands are expected to see an 18.1% increase in inbound air capacity for the January-April 2026 period, with 358,512 seats projected for the winter and spring travel seasons. This growth further supports continued visitor numbers and tourism demand in the coming months.
A Bright Future for Cayman Islands Tourism
The Cayman Islands has established a fresh benchmark for Caribbean tourism, which will reach its highest tourist numbers during the year 2025. The destination will maintain its successful performance throughout 2026 and future years because of strong market growth from the United States and Canada and Latin America, which, combined with new air travel routes and effective marketing efforts. The Cayman Islands will maintain its status as a premier vacation spot because luxury tourism grows and visitors seek upscale experiences in tropical paradises.
