The Matanuska-Susitna Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) promoted Casey Ressler to President and CEO, succeeding Bonnie Quill, who announced her retirement after leading the organization since 2000.
Ressler has been with the Mat-Su CVB for nearly seventeen years, serving as both the membership manager and the marketing manager for the last fifteen years.
The nonprofit has four year-round, full-time employees to promote the tourism industry in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough, funded by a 5 percent hotel bed tax.
Quill announced her intention to retire this summer during the Mat-Su CVB Board of Directors Retreat in February. The board then hired a national search firm.
Board Chair Mark Austin says after a thorough and competitive interview process that they are happy to announce Casey Ressler has been promoted to the President & CEO position.
He brings a new vision and direction for the CVB, but also continuity and the community knowledge and experience we need for the next era.
Quill is credited with securing funding for the Gateway Visitor Center, and last year she became the first Alaskan honored by Destinations International with the Destination Organization Leadership Award.
Quill also held leadership positions on the board of the Alaska Travel Industry Association and the Alaska State Fair, and she helped found the Glenn Highway National Scenic Byway organization.
Bonnie’s leadership has been significant statewide for the tourism industry.
She has been an advocate and ambassador for the Mat-Su Borough, and we congratulate her on her retirement, Austin says.
