According to AAA reports, aabout 3.6 million Michigan residents will travel 50 miles or more during the upcoming year-end holiday travel period.
From December 23rd to January 1st, there may be nearly 101,743 more Michigan travellers than last year.
That figure is the second highest year-end travel forecast since 2000 when AAA began tracking holiday travel.
2019 remains the busiest Christmas and New Year’s travel period on record, with 3.7 million Michigan travellers.
AAA has seen steady year-over-year growth in travel demand. It has been culminating with what is probabaly the second-busiest year-end holiday travel season on record in Michigan and nationwide.
Debbie Haas, Vice President of Travel for AAA – The Auto Club Group said this.
Despite various inflationary pressures, Americans are still willing to budget for travel.
With a near record number of travellers there will be more crowds in the roads, airports and cruise lines than normal.
So finalize your travel plans now, anticipate longer lines, and give yourself extra time to get to your destination.
AAA expects there will be 115.2 million total travellers this holiday season nationwide.
According to AAA flight booking data, many travellers are heading to warm weather destinations like Florida and the Caribbean, tourist hotspots like New York and Las Vegas, and European cities like London and Rome this holiday season.
